Elm Tree Cottage was home to five generations of my family in Pembroke, MA.  In the kitchen of this little cape, my mother taught me to bake, and I fell in love.

My mother baked; bread, rolls, cakes, cookies, anything and everything.  Both of my grandmothers baked. Gramma Helen’s pink frosted sugar cookies and Gramma Howe’s hot milk sponge cake were my favorites.

Chocolate chip cookies were my specialty growing up. Whenever I came home for visists during college, the ingredients for cookies always ‘just happened’ to be on hand. Mom and I took our first cake decorating class when I was a teenager and there have been cakes for birthdays, graduations, showers and weddings ever since. In college, sugar cookie decorating parties were a staple in my apartment – especially for holidays like Halloween, Christmas and Easter. 

For over 40 years I have been baking for family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. The recipes and methods have changed and improved as I have continued to learn, experiment and expand my baking skills. At Elm Tree Cottage bakery I get to share delicious, from-scratch baking with other families and new friends; and I hope they enjoy them as much as we do!
